Leon Pollett running for council in Marystown
MARYSTOWN, NL – Leon Pollett has jumped on board for next month’s municipal election in Marystown.
Pollett, who is employed as the lead mechanic for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s transportation system on the Burin Peninsula, announced he plans to seek a seat on the Marytown council in a news release Aug. 18.
“Marystown has given me an abundance of opportunity over the years, so I have decided that it is time I gave back to the town and its citizens,” he said.
“My experience in the mechanical, construction and industrial sector have given me the experience to contribute to making our town a better place to live and work. I will work will all elected members of council to show the people that through cooperation and hard work, we will prove once again that Marystown is a town to be proud of.”
Pollett said Marystown has a long reputation as a leading municipality in the commercial and industrial sector.
“It should be a town that we are all proud to be a part of. We need to build upon that and grow this town,” he said.
Municipal elections are scheduled across Newfoundland and Labrador on Sept. 26.
