Leon Pol­lett run­ning for council in Marystown

MARYSTOWN, NL – Leon Pol­lett has jumped on board for next month’s mu­nic­i­pal elec­tion in Marystown.

Pol­lett, who is em­ployed as the lead me­chanic for the New­found­land and Labrador English School Dis­trict’s trans­porta­tion sys­tem on the Burin Penin­sula, an­nounced he plans to seek a seat on the Mary­town council in a news re­lease Aug. 18.

“Marystown has given me an abun­dance of op­por­tu­nity over the years, so I have de­cided that it is time I gave back to the town and its ci­ti­zens,” he said.

“My ex­pe­ri­ence in the me­chan­i­cal, con­struc­tion and in­dus­trial sec­tor have given me the ex­pe­ri­ence to con­trib­ute to mak­ing our town a bet­ter place to live and work. I will work will all elected mem­bers of council to show the peo­ple that through co­op­er­a­tion and hard work, we will prove once again that Marystown is a town to be proud of.”

Pol­lett said Marystown has a long rep­u­ta­tion as a lead­ing mu­nic­i­pal­ity in the com­mer­cial and in­dus­trial sec­tor.

“It should be a town that we are all proud to be a part of. We need to build upon that and grow this town,” he said.

Mu­nic­i­pal elec­tions are sched­uled across New­found­land and Labrador on Sept. 26.
