Support from FISH-NL

The Southern Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

Ryan Cleary, president of the Federation of Independent Sea Harvesters of Newfoundland and Labrador (FISH-NL), said he came out to Grand Bank to show his support for Meade.

“I’ve known Wayne for a while now and he’s a good person, a good fisherman — he supports Fish-NL and I’m here to support him.”

Cleary said he supports the court’s decision in the matter.

He said Meade had been growing increasingly frustrated with issues within the fishery for years.

“The spring of 2016, he had a couple of demonstrations down here,” said Cleary. “The frustration down here (in) people like Wayne Meade has been brewing for a long time, and make no mistake, it was frustration — it had nothing to do with FISHNL, that was frustration within the FFAW.”
