Ardens soccer top all three Moose Jaw opponents
The Swift Current Comp. Ardens team got a pretty good idea of where they fit in in the Moose Jaw High School Soccer League as they battled all three Moose Jaw teams last week and emerged with three victories without conceding a goal.
The Ardens notched their first win of the season with a 7-0 victory over the Central Cyclones on Thursday.
The Ardens led 2-0 at halftime in their home debut before pouring it on during a five-goal second half.
Rookie Olivia Koebel led the Ardens with a secondhalf hat trick, while captain Allison Wall scored twice. Midfielders Calli Moreausimpson and Ilyssa Dyck also scored, while Juliana Whalen earned the shutout in goal.
MJ Anderson, Jannae Carlson, and Michaella Smuk all added assists.
The Ardens added a pair of shutout wins over Moose Jaw opponents on Saturday in less than favourable weather conditions.
They opened the day with an 8-0 win over the Moose Jaw AE Peacock Tornadoes. Wall led the Ardens with two goals, followed by a goal and an assist each from Carlson and Moreausimpson.
Koebel, Dyck, Kaitlyn Berggren, and Bryn Haubrich also scored. Aspen Thomson and Anderson also added assists, while Jasmine Temoshawsky picked up the shutout in goal.
The Ardens ran into a much tougher opponent in the second game and responded with a 4-0 victory over the Vanier Spirits. Wall and Anderson led the Ardens with a goal and an assist each.
Grade nine midfielders Olivia Koebel and Bryn Haubrich also scored. Whalen earned the shutout in goal.
The Ardens (3-1-1) will play their final home game of the season on October 4 when they host the Vanier Spirits at 4:15 p.m. at Irwin Field.
