Lancer gearing up for 48th an­nual Chokecherry Fes­ti­val

A Thanks­giv­ing long week­end tra­di­tion con­tin­ues again this year when the 48th an­nual Lancer Chokecherry Fes­ti­val will be held on Oc­to­ber 6 and 7.

The ma­jor­ity of the fes­ti­val’s ac­tiv­i­ties will be held on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 6, kick­ing off with a pan­cake break­fast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

In ad­di­tion to some of the fa­mil­iar ac­tiv­i­ties at the Chokecherry Fes­ti­val, a mud bog has been planned for 2 p.m.

A sched­ule of ac­tiv­i­ties is as fol­lows:

SATUR­DAY, OC­TO­BER 6 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Pan­cake break­fast.

8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Jam, jelly and syrup.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Bake Sale, United Church.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Main­street Ac­tiv­i­ties.

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Mu­seum open.

1 p.m. - Parade (en­tries line up at the ball di­a­monds at 12:30 p.m.).

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Food Fair (beef on a bun, soup, pies).

2 p.m. to 4 p.m. - Show and Shine.

2 p.m. - Mud Bog (lo­ca­tion to be de­ter­mined).

9 p.m. - Dance, Mitch Larock & 4:54 Band.

Horse­shoes are avail­able all day, and a black­smith demon­stra­tion will be held at the north side of the Hall. SUN­DAY, OC­TO­BER 7 11 a.m. - In­ter­faith Church Ser­vice, Lancer Catholic Church. Potluck lunch to fol­low at the Hall.

11 a.m. - Trap Shoot (reg­is­tra­tion at 10 a.m.).
