Legionnaires split home stand
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires split a two-game home stand in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League over the weekend.
Friday, Boston Bird scored midway through overtime as the Legionnaires defeated the visiting Moose Jaw Generals 4-3.
Hendrik de Klerk, Mason Strutt, and Maguire Scheidt also scored for the Legionnaires.
Logan Linklater, Strutt, Bird, and Reed Jacobson all picked up assists. Ethan Hein earned the win with 25 saves on 28 shots.
Evan Sare, Cody Davis, and Jake Plamer replied for the Generals. Reece Hodson took the loss with 35 saves.
Sunday, the Legionnaires allowed three goals in under eight minutes in the second period during a 5-3 loss to the Regina Pat Canadians.
Jacobson scored twice, while Strutt and Bird each picked up a pair of assists. Linklater also scored, while Chase Gallant and Lucas Ochitwa added assists.
Ethan Hein took the loss after allowing four goals on 17 shots over 25:12. Jacob Herman made 14 saves on 15 shots over 32:20.
The Legionnaires finished the week in fourth place in the 12-team league with an 8-4 record.
The Legionnaires will head north this weekend to face the Battlefords Stars (2-8-0-1).
