Cow­boys amongst lead­ers at CPRA Cana­dian Fi­nals

A trio of South­west cow­boys were amongst the top per­form­ers in their re­spec­tive events at the 2018 Cana­dian Fi­nals Rodeo in Red Deer.

Maple Creek’s Jared Par­son­age placed third amongst 12 cow­boys in Bull Rid­ing at the Fi­nals when he cov­ered four of six bulls.

Par­son­age pro­duced an eight-sec­ond ride on Tues­day when he placed sev­enth with 81.25 points on The Si­lence. He im­proved to 83.75 points aboard Dark­ness on Wed­nes­day to place fourth in round two. He was bucked off Fall­ing Rock on Thurs­day.

He re­bounded on Fri­day with an 80.75point ride on Mon­ster to place sev­enth. Par­son­age was bucked off by Home Grown on Satur­day, but rode Ten­nesse Whiskey in the sixth round for 84.75 points, fourth on the day. Par­son­age earned $7,695 at the Fi­nals and fin­ished the sea­son with $50,135, third most amongst bull riders.

Waldeck’s Tuftin and Tyce Mcleod reg­is­tered a time in all six rounds to place third at the Fi­nals in Team Rop­ing

The Mcleods placed sixth in the first round on Tues­day in 10.4 sec­onds. They im­proved to 6.4 sec­onds in round two but still placed sixth out of 12 teams. The Mcleods reg­is­tered a 20-sec­ond time on Thurs­day to place sev­enth in round three.

Tuftin and Tyce were sev­enth in round four in 10.5 sec­onds. They nearly cut their time in half in round five in 5.3 sec­onds, a score that was only ninth best. The Mcleods fin­ished the sixth round in 10.3 sec­onds on Sun­day. They col­lected $7,695 for their third-place fin­ish.
