Township of Sables-spanish Rivers — Re-elect Charlie Smith for council

The Standard (Elliot Lake) - - BLIND RIVER -

Charlie Smith

if elected this would be my fourth term on council, that makes me the most experienced councillor. i originally was not elected, but asked by the councillors at the time to serve, as they said they needed me. i was happy to serve my community.

i am the only farmer running for council, and perhaps the only person who owns a business of any kind. i am also a published writer and poet, and worked in the mines in my callow youth. before i was on council i worked for the township on occasion: as animal bylaw enforcement officer, fence viewer and i blasted beaver dams in the municipal drains.

it has always been my intention to improve communication with the constituency and to fight needless and overlapping bureaucracy. For instance, i think it’s past time that we did something to control the building inspections and to streamline the policy and reviews. it is retarding development in our township. i am distressed to have grown men standing in my kitchen weeping with frustration because they cannot expand their operations or finish their projects due to needless, pointless and foolish building codes.

When contacted by someone with a problem i always do my best to solve it, often, i am sure, to the irritation of the other councillors at the table. When i have done the best i can for the complainant i call back.

if you vote for me, i will continue to do the very best i can for you.

Fight from the inside, vote for me!
