The Standard (St. Catharines) - - OPINION -

If a caller claims to be from the Grimsby fire department asking for a cash donation to support as fire fighter book, it’s a scam. Niagara Regional Police issued an advisory Thursday, warning residents about a phone scam targeting local businesses. “The caller(s) demand a cash donation for a ‘firefighter book’ identifying themselves as representatives of the Grimsby fire department,” the police advisory said.

The fire department does not solicit donations over the phone. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspected fraud to contact them at 905-9452211 ext. 5400.
