Two crit­i­cally in­jured in traf­fic ac­ci­dents

Ni­a­gara Re­gional Po­lice are ask­ing for wit­nesses to two se­ri­ous Thurs­day evening traf­fic col­li­sions in St. Catharines that re­sulted in two pedes­tri­ans be­ing struck, to come for­ward. Po­lice say a 21-year-old man was hit by a ve­hi­cle on Dieppe Road near Neil­son Av­enue in St. Catharines around 9:55 p.m. Thurs­day.

The man was walk­ing on Dieppe Road when he was hit by a 2006 Lexus SUV, driven by a 72-year-old St. Catharines man.

The pedes­trian was taken to hospi­tal with life-threat­en­ing in­juries, where he re­mains in crit­i­cal con­di­tion. The driver was un­hurt. The sec­ond in­ci­dent hap­pened nearly four hours ear­lier on Geneva Street. Po­lice say a 2002 Chevro­let Im­pala was be­ing driven by an 82-year-old man north on Geneva. Around 6 p.m. a 32-year-old woman stepped into the path of the Im­pala.

She suf­fered life-threat­en­ing in­juries and was taken to hospi­tal where she re­mains in crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

The driver of the Im­pala was not in­jured.
