Welland can take a bow on development

The Standard (St. Catharines) - - OPINION -

Re: Record year for development in Welland, Micjelle Allenberg, Jan. 9

As reported, “In 2016 the city issued 622 permits representing projects valued at $81.7 million. During 2017, 726 permits were issued, representing projects valued at more than $164.5 million.”

And projections for 2018 could be even better?

Kudos to Dan Degazio, Welland’s director of economic development and his team. Getting the shovels into the ground within eight weeks? Fantastic.

You and your team should take a bow.

Mayor Frank Campion, this might be an election year but this is very refreshing. To all those at city hall you too take a bow. Thanks to all of you.

There are many people in the next years and years to come who will have work for them in this city of ours. Proud to be a Wellander.

Ron St. Louis Welland
