Corvairs ordered parked for the night

Action in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s fourteam Sutherland Cup tournament was scheduled to resume Sunday night, weather permitting.

A semifinal game between the Caledonia Corvairs and Elmira Sugar Kings was postponed due to inclement weather Saturday night, as was a fourth-round game pitting the Listowel Cyclones against the London Nationals.

For Caledonia, the time change also resulted in a change of venue. Originally, the Corvairs were scheduled to host the third game in the best-of-seven series, but that game as set to played in Elmira on Sunday.

Caledonia, which has home-ice advantage in the rematch of last year’s semifinal, will now be the home team for Game 4 taking place Monday beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Corvairs lead Elmira, the defending Sutherland Cup champions, two games to none after scoring overtime victories in Games 1 and 2.

Caledonia, which swept the St. Catharines Falcons to win the Golden Horseshoe Conference championship for the fifth year in a row, is seeking its fourth Sutherland Cup in five years. The Sugar Kings beat the Corvairs in six games in the Sutherland Cup semifinals last year. The Listowel-London series is tied at one win apiece.
