Ni­a­gara’s falls to turn pur­ple for royal wed­ding

Ni­a­gara’s falls will be bathed in pur­ple on Satur­day in hon­our of the royal wed­ding. The Ni­a­gara Falls Il­lu­mi­na­tion Board will light up the falls in a royal shade of pur­ple for 30 min­utes start­ing at 9 p.m. to mark the wed­ding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The il­lu­mi­na­tion of thre Horse­shoe Falls in com­mem­o­ra­tion of a royal visit, wed­ding or birth has long been part of the his­tory of Ni­a­gara.

In re­cent years, the falls have been il­lu­mi­nated in pur­ple to hon­our of events such as the 90th birth­day of Queen El­iz­a­beth II, as well as to rec­og­nize the births of Prince

Ge­orge, Princess Char­lotte and most re­cently, Prince Louis.
