Airport doing well
Passenger numbers and travellers at the Greater Sudbury Airport are skyrocketing . The airport posted a 29 per cent increase in the number of travellers visiting in August 2017, with 24,893 touching down or taking off compared to 19,330 in 2016. The number of travellers for the first eight months of 2017 is also up by more than 16 per cent. So far, 174,019 travellers have come through the airport, compared to 149,879 in 2016. The significant increase is due to a number of factors. Todd Tripp, Greater Sudbury airport’s CEO, said in a release “this substantial growth can be attributed to the air carriers meeting passenger demand through improved scheduling, a stronger focus on flight reliability and the upsizing of aircraft for certain flights. Additionally, the introduction of a new air carrier to the Sudbury market has been extremely beneficial.” Airport official expect a steady increase overall for the rest of the year.
