THEIR JOUR­NEY BE­GINS IN SUD­BURY

Greater Sud­bury paramedics Aaron Bar­ney, left, Lisa Des­jardins, Blaise Quen­nevh­lle, Chris Du­mond, Jes­sica Ryan and An­nik Thibault have switched their am­bu­lances for bi­cy­cles as they de­parted from Sud­bury to Toronto on Thurs­day. The lo­cal group leaves Toronto on Fri­day with about 180 other rid­ers, on a 500-kilo­me­tre jour­ney to Ot­tawa to raise aware­ness and funds in sup­port of the Cana­dian Para­medic Memo­rial Foun­da­tion. The foun­da­tion plans to have a mon­u­ment built in Ot­tawa, to com­mem­o­rate those paramedics who have lost their lives in the line-of-duty. The lo­cal paramedics have raised more than $2,000 so far.
