Season is short

The Sudbury Star - - SPORTS - Dave Makela is the athletic administrator for the Sudbury District Secondary Schools’ Athletic Association. His column appears Fridays in The Sudbury Star.

Just how quickly does the fall sport season pass? Well, scarcely a few paragraphs into the first column of the school year and I can already preview the first championship of the season: SDSSAA Golf, coming up next week. This year’s championship is slated for Sept. 21 at the Lively Golf and Country Club. Seventeen schools have signed up to participate in this year’s event, with the top four boys teams and top five girls overall qualifying to participate at NOSSA in Blind River on Sept. 26.

Throughout the school year, news and results information will be posted on the SDSSAA website at sdssaa.rain, posted on the SDSSAA facebook page (#sdssaasudbury) or Twitter site (@sdssaa1), or for team sports, posted to www.score which is the official results site for SDSSAA team sports.

And as for the new season, students and coaches say, “Bring it on!”
