Cultural action committee
The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation is seeking six people to sit the cultural action committee. The committee was formed in 2015 as a result of the council-endorsed Greater Sudbury cultural plan 2015-2020, which demonstrates the city’s recognition of the value of culture in the community. The action plan, drafted to accompany the cultural plan, lays out specific actions within the four strategic directions of creative identity, creative people, creative places and creative economy. It outlines potential initiatives, partners, resources and timelines to help realize the goals of the plan. Members of the cultural action committee will work with the corporation’s arts and culture business development officer to provide a credible, expert resource for the implementation of the plan. The committee will represent the diversity among the city’s residents, business, education, and its arts and cultural communities. It will serve as a forum for soliciting the opinions of the larger community on issues related to the actions identified in the cultural action plan. Committee members will be selected with consideration to fair representation of cultural and artistic disciplines, gender, geography and cultural diversity. Applicants must be residents of Greater Sudbury and must be at least 18 years old. Appointments are unpaid. The committee will meet on a quarterly basis at Tom Davies Square, 200 Brady St. Committee members will have the option of a two- or three-year term. The deadline to apply is Monday, Nov. 20 at 4 p.m. For more information or to apply, visit greatersudburyculture.ca or contact Jonathon Condratto at 705-674-4455 ext. 4429 or jonathon. firstname.lastname@example.org.
