Blood donations needed for long weekend

The Sudbury Star - - NEWS -

Canadian Blood Services in Sudbury is looking for more people to donate blood as the long weekend approaches. New and returning donors are urged to book an appointment to give life before the Victoria Day weekend to ensure patients receive the blood they need. There are 54 appointments to fill in Sudbury on Friday. The Sudbury blood donor clinic is located at 944 Barrydowne Road and is open 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Holidays and long weekends are always a difficult time for the blood system, Canadian Blood Services said in a release. “While blood donations traditionally decrease because people are away on holidays or busy with family activities, the demand for blood usually increases due in part to an increase in trauma cases such as car accidents,” the agency said.
