Lo­cals, Wolves prospects on Chal­lenge ros­ters

Sev­eral lo­cal NOJHLers and Sud­bury Wolves prospects have been named to ros­ters for the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Chal­lenge, a show­case of ju­nior A play­ers to be held in Quinte West, Ont., Nov. 19-21. Sud­burian Ryan O’Bon­sawin, who has split time this sea­son as a for­ward for the Wolves and a de­fence­man for the RaysideBal­four Cana­di­ans of the NOJHL, is part of a good-sized group of lo­cals named to one of two en­tries from the North­ern On­tario league. Those suit­ing up for NOJHL West in­clude de­fence­men O’Bon­sawin and Zach Snow and for­wards Ben­jamin Hatanaka, Brady Mal­tais and Evan Krassey from the Cana­di­ans and Chase Lammi from the Es­panola Ex­press. Krassey will serve as the team’s cap­tain. Grant Trayner, Es­panola’s di­rec­tor of sales and game pro­mo­tions, will serve as di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions for NOJHL West. Ex­press head coach Dave Clancy will be an as­sis­tant and Es­panola equip­ment man­ager Brian Work­man will hold the same po­si­tion for the all-star team. For Team NOJHL East, Wolves for­ward prospect Levi Siau will rep­re­sent the French River Rapids. Rapids gen­eral man­ager Paul Frustaglio will be di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions for NOHJL East. Wolves goal­tend­ing prospect Mitchell Weeks, cur­rently play­ing for the New­mar­ket Hur­ri­canes of the On­tario Ju­nior Hockey League, will back­stop the OJHL Cof­fey team. For­wards for Cof­fey in­clude Wolves pick Brodie McDougall, who plays for the Cobourg Cougars and re­cently com­mit­ted to Bowl­ing Green State Univer­sity. For­ward Kosta Manikis, an­other Sud­bury draft choice and who has a com­mit­ment to Clark­son Univer­sity, will rep­re­sent the Stouf­fville Spirit as a mem­ber of OJHL Oates.
