Honme, car, shed targets
Saugeen Shores police charged a 24-year-old Sarnia man with arson and mischief over $5,000 after a shed, home and car on Winchfield Road in Southampton were damaged. Police said in a news release Sunday that at 2:15 a.m. Friday, the victim woke up and found her backyard shed engulfed in flames. When she went outside she found that the house and her vehicle had also been damaged. Saugeen Shores fire and police attended. Information from the firefighters indicated “the shed fire had been set intentionally. The shed and contents were completely destroyed,” the police news release said.
“All four sides of the house were extensively spray painted with vulgar wording. The vehicle was also spray painted and scratched. Foam insulation was sprayed into the gas tank,” police said in the release. A suspect, whom police said is known to the complainant, was identified later in the day.
A 24-year-old man from Sarnia was arrested and charged with criminal harassment, arson, mischief over $5,000, trespass at night and two counts of fail to comply with probation.
He was held in custody and is to appear by video in bail court Nov. 14. He has been charged with criminal harassment, arson, mischief over $5,000, trespass at night, and two counts of fail to comply with probation.
