Markdale Arts for Youth (MAFY) and To­tally Awe­some Arts for Youth (TAAFY) are once again pre­par­ing to cel­e­brate the com­ing of spring with their an­nual spring con­cert. The con­cert takes place Fri­day, May 25, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Grey High­lands Sec­ondary School in Flesh­er­ton. MAFY and TAAFY will be joined once again by the Ge­or­gian Sound Big Band and the Grey High­lands Sec­ondary School Band. New to the pro­gram this year will be the Os­prey Com­mu­nity Arts for Youth (OCAFY) rep­re­sented by the Os­prey Com­mu­nity School Choir. Ad­mis­sion is by freewill do­na­tion.

Blue­wa­ter Quil­ters’ Guild, Owen Sound presents their Quilts by the Bay 2018 quilt show on June 1 and 2 at the Harry Lum­ley Bayshore Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. Fri­day 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Satur­day 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is $7. There will be quilt dis­plays, in­clud­ing Quilts of Val­our, Canada 150 quilts, and out­reach quilts. Also ven­dors, boutique, tea room, demon­stra­tions, chal­lenge quilts, mini quilt draws and gift bas­ket draws.

For the month of May, the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op will be ex­hibit­ing its 10th An­nual Art and Craft Legacy Show in the Legacy Gallery. This is an op­por­tu­nity for stu­dents to show their work in a pro­fes­sional re­tail gallery, and for the pub­lic to see into the artful minds of to­day’s youth. Six­teen awards will be pre­sented, in­clud­ing Peo­ple’s Choice, and all work will be show­cased. Four tal­ented new guest artists have been in­stalled. Joan Hawks­bridge – mixed me­dia, Cindy Matthews – wax and ink, Miche­line Howitt, rug hook­ing, and Bar­bara Hot­son – Wa­ter­colour. The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op is open seven days a week and an artist is al­ways in at­ten­dance.

The Owen Sound Cam­era Club will hold an exhibition of its mem­bers’ work at the Owen Sound li­brary in May. The club is over 60 years old and con­tin­ues to have a strong mem­ber­ship with over 70 mem­bers. They will be dis­play­ing the work from over 30 dif­fer­ent pho­tog­ra­phers.
