Markdale Arts for Youth (MAFY) and Totally Awesome Arts for Youth (TAAFY) are once again preparing to celebrate the coming of spring with their annual spring concert. The concert takes place Friday, May 25, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Grey Highlands Secondary School in Flesherton. MAFY and TAAFY will be joined once again by the Georgian Sound Big Band and the Grey Highlands Secondary School Band. New to the program this year will be the Osprey Community Arts for Youth (OCAFY) represented by the Osprey Community School Choir. Admission is by freewill donation.

Bluewater Quilters’ Guild, Owen Sound presents their Quilts by the Bay 2018 quilt show on June 1 and 2 at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Friday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $7. There will be quilt displays, including Quilts of Valour, Canada 150 quilts, and outreach quilts. Also vendors, boutique, tea room, demonstrations, challenge quilts, mini quilt draws and gift basket draws.
For the month of May, the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op will be exhibiting its 10th Annual Art and Craft Legacy Show in the Legacy Gallery. This is an opportunity for students to show their work in a professional retail gallery, and for the public to see into the artful minds of today’s youth. Sixteen awards will be presented, including People’s Choice, and all work will be showcased. Four talented new guest artists have been installed. Joan Hawksbridge – mixed media, Cindy Matthews – wax and ink, Micheline Howitt, rug hooking, and Barbara Hotson – Watercolour. The Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op is open seven days a week and an artist is always in attendance.
The Owen Sound Camera Club will hold an exhibition of its members’ work at the Owen Sound library in May. The club is over 60 years old and continues to have a strong membership with over 70 members.
