Panning for gold

Video by Ashley Fitzpatrick/ The Telegram In a stream in an area off the Trans-Canada Highway near Foxtrap, prospector Peter Dimmell demonstrates panning for gold, circling a sample of rock and dirt (taken from another prospect area on the island, to be able to show the gold) in his pan. The gold sinks to the bottom, centre while the other material slides away. Within minutes, the gold is visible, isolated and available for a smaller sample bag.
