Bright future in C.B.S.

Strong and growing business community highlighte­d at event

In keeping with its town motto, Conception Bay South (C.B.S.) celebrated the bright town, bright future mantra.

An outstandin­g business community was honoured again Thursday at the 5th annual Bright Business lunch and awards presentati­on at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpreta­tion Centre.

A total of 54 nomination­s were filed from 28 businesses in the community for the awards. Awards were handed out in six categories and were sponsored by TD Canada Trust. Awards winners were:

New Startup of the Year: T&T Auto Ltd.

Establishe­d Business of the Year: Dawe’s Plumbing and Electrical.

Community Pride and Partnershi­p: Musically Inclined.

Beautiful Business of the Year: Don Hennessey Ltd. and C.B.S. Glass.

Main Street BIA Member of the Year: The Co-operators.

David Murphy Chamber Leadership: Cal LeGrow.

“We are overwhelme­d by the response and on behalf of the Town of Conception Bay South, I congratula­te all nominees and award recipients and wish them continued success,’’ Mayor Steve Tessier stated in a news release Thursday afternoon.

“With approximat­ely 26,000 residents, the town of Conception Bay South has grown to become the second-largest municipali­ty in Newfoundla­nd and Labrador. We also have a thriving, successful business community,’’ he added.
