Driver stopped in St. John’s; no insurance, $10K in fines

ST. JOHN’S — A routine traffic safety stop Friday afternoon resulted in a 31-year-old woman being held for court after it was discovered she was driving without insurance.

Police stopped the woman Friday at 3:45p.m, in the area of Lemarchant Road in St. John’s. In addition to driving without insurance, it was found she also owed $10,000 in outstandin­g fines.

Her vehicle was impounded and she taken into custody.
