Trevor Stagg fac­ing sex­ual as­sault and four other charges

Stephenville lawyer Trevor Stagg has been ar­rested and is fac­ing sex­ual as­sault and four other charges.

He is also fac­ing as­sault, crim­i­nal ha­rass­ment by re­peat­edly com­mu­ni­cat­ing with an­other person, and two counts of ut­ter­ing threats to cause death or bod­ily harm.

Stagg worked for 17 years in New Brunswick be­fore re­turn­ing to Stephenville in March 2014, when he opened the law firm Stagg & Stagg with his fa­ther.

He is a mem­ber of the Cana­dian Bar As­so­ci­a­tion, the law so­ci­eties of New­found­land and Labrador and New Brunswick, and is a no­tary pub­lic in both prov­inces.

He is the di­rec­tor of the Bay St. Ge­orge Cham­ber of Com­merce and is cross-ap­pointed to the Col­lege of the North At­lantic Board of Gov­er­nors and has served on the au­dit com­mit­tee.

He is sched­ule to ap­pear in pro­vin­cial court in Stephenville 1 p.m. today.
