Me­mo­rial Univer­sity awarded alumni of dis­tinc­tion Thurs­day evening at the 37th an­nual Alumni Trib­ute Awards, held at Sig­nal Hill Cam­pus. Busi­ness­man and former Lib­eral can­di­date Paul An­tle re­ceived the 2018 Alum­nus of the Year Award. The J.D. Ea­ton Award for out­stand­ing vol­un­teer con­tri­bu­tions to the univer­sity went to Fred Cahill, pres­i­dent of con­struc­tion com­pany The Cahill Group. As­pir­ing as­tro­naut Bethany Downer re­ceived the Hori­zon Award — a recog­ni­tion of achieve­ment by a Me­mo­rial grad­u­ate who is 35 years of age or younger. Long­time vol­un­teer and leader Shar­ron Cal­la­han re­ceived the Com­mu­nity Ser­vice Award.
