Comiccon postpones convention

-

Not even superheroes are immune to the ravages of COVID-19.

Ottawa Comiccon has announced it is postponing its ninth edition, which had been scheduled for Sept. 11-13, to 2021.

“The health and safety of our attendees, guests, volunteers, partners, exhibitors and employees remain our top priorities,” co-founder Alex La Prova said in a release.

“The current situation is certainly difficult for the entire community, but Comiccon’s leadership team looks to the future with hope and optimism,” he wrote. “We will come back even stronger and continue to participate in Ottawa’s cultural, economic and touristic influence.”

More details on the 2021 edition will be released in the coming months, the group said.

A “COVID-19” page has been created on the Ottawa Comiccon website on which ticket holders will find answers to their questions.

The pop culture expo, known for the wild costumes sported by many attendees, provides “multi-genre content,” including comic books, scifi, horror, anime, video games and the entertainment world.
