Alder­wood is lo­cated in the beau­ti­ful com­mu­nity of Bad­deck in the heart of Cape Bre­ton. The Home is com­mit­ted to pro­vide the very best res­i­dent-cen­tered care by as­sist­ing each res­i­dent in at­tain­ing the high­est qual­ity of life by meet­ing their phys­i­cal, phys­i­o­log­i­cal, emo­tional and spir­i­tual needs and to foster pos­i­tive re­la­tion­ships with em­ploy­ees through re­spect, en­hanced com­mu­ni­ca­tion and the pro­mo­tion of a healthy and safe en­vi­ron­ment. As a mem­ber of the se­nior man­age­ment team, the Di­rec­tor of En­vi­ron­men­tal and Di­etary Ser­vices col­lab­o­rates with the di­eti­cian on res­i­dent nu­tri­tional care and menu prepa­ra­tion; de­vel­ops, mon­i­tor and eval­u­ates KPIS, poli­cies and pro­cesses that com­ply with reg­u­lat­ing agen­cies and leads to best prac­tices. The Di­rec­tor man­ages the day-to-day op­er­a­tions of the de­part­ments within the bud­get guide­lines and is will­ing and ca­pa­ble to work flex­i­ble hours and to con­duct hands-on daily du­ties as re­quired. The Di­rec­tor is re­spon­si­ble to co­or­di­nate train­ing ses­sions for staff to pro­mote safe, qual­ity and ef­fi­cient ser­vice to the res­i­dents to en­sure the pro­vi­sion of com­pre­hen­sive, qual­ity ser­vices to all res­i­dents which meet the Mis­sion, Vi­sion and Val­ues of Alder­wood.

Re­quire­ments:

• Diploma in food ser­vice or re­lated field • 2 years ex­pe­ri­ence in in­sti­tu­tional food ser­vice and/or en­vi­ron­men­tal ser­vices in a

man­age­ment po­si­tion • Thor­ough knowl­edge of pro­vin­cial and fed­eral reg­u­la­tions • Ef­fec­tive writ­ten, oral and in­ter­per­sonal com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills with a work­ing knowl­edge

of com­put­ers in­clud­ing Ex­cel; Out­look; Of­fice; Power Point • Proven abil­ity with in­ven­tory man­age­ment and meet fi­nan­cial tar­gets • Ex­pe­ri­ence with hir­ing; sched­ul­ing; ne­go­ti­at­ing • Abil­ity to ful­fill the roles and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties as de­scribed in the Di­rec­tor of En­vi­ron­men­tal

and Di­etary Job Po­si­tion Out­line • Demon­strated abil­ity in prob­lem solv­ing; is flex­i­ble; has strong or­ga­ni­za­tional skills • His­tory of sat­is­fac­tory at­ten­dance and ca­pa­ble to meet the de­mands of the job
