Nancy El­iz­a­beth Mac­don­ald, 69, of Bad­deck, Nova Sco­tia, passed away sur­rounded by loved ones on May 21, 2017 at Vic­to­ria County Memo­rial Hos­pi­tal, Bad­deck, NS. Nancy was the daugh­ter of the late Dou­glas and Mar­garet (O’brien) Tren­holm.

She leaves be­hind her hus­band of more than 50 years, John (Jackie) Mac­don­ald; their three chil­dren, Kevin (Mar­guerite), Kirk (Shauna) and Kim (Kyle), and brother Brian Tren­holm. Nancy was the lov­ing grand­mother to four grand­chil­dren, Shea, Sarah, Kather­ine (Kevin), and Joshua (Kim).

Nancy was born and raised in Amherst, and came to Bad­deck dur­ing a sum­mer work term while at­tend­ing Dal­housie Univer­sity, where she met the love of her life, Jackie, and they were mar­ried in 1966.

She was ac­tive in the com­mu­nity through her work with Cen­ter Bras d’or and then later with Home Care Nova Sco­tia. Dur­ing her life she en­riched the com­mu­nity through vol­un­teer­ing with the Fire Ladies Aux­il­liary, Bad­deck Mi­nor Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion, Bras d’or Yacht Club, Bad­deck Curl­ing Club and as part of the church choir.

Nancy was an avid curler, but also en­joyed swimming and sail­ing. She also en­joyed watch­ing nu­mer­ous other sports and could al­ways be counted on to root for the un­der­dog.

Nancy was an af­firmed an­i­mal lover as any of her fam­ily or friends can attest to. She loved to spend time walk­ing, feed­ing and play­ing with her dogs and horses over the years.

She will be greatly missed by her fam­ily and friends for her kind­ness and com­pas­sion.

In lieu of flow­ers memo­rial do­na­tions may be given to the Cana­dian Liver So­ci­ety or your lo­cal SPCA. Please join us for a memo­rial ser­vice to cel­e­brate her life in Bad­deck on Fri­day, Au­gust 4, 2017 at Knox Pres­by­te­rian Church at 2 p.m. Ar­range­ments are un­der the di­rec­tion of Macaskill Fu­neral Home, Bad­deck, NS.
