Nancy Elizabeth Macdonald
Nancy Elizabeth Macdonald, 69, of Baddeck, Nova Scotia, passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 21, 2017 at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, NS. Nancy was the daughter of the late Douglas and Margaret (O’brien) Trenholm.
She leaves behind her husband of more than 50 years, John (Jackie) Macdonald; their three children, Kevin (Marguerite), Kirk (Shauna) and Kim (Kyle), and brother Brian Trenholm. Nancy was the loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Shea, Sarah, Katherine (Kevin), and Joshua (Kim).
Nancy was born and raised in Amherst, and came to Baddeck during a summer work term while attending Dalhousie University, where she met the love of her life, Jackie, and they were married in 1966.
She was active in the community through her work with Center Bras d’or and then later with Home Care Nova Scotia. During her life she enriched the community through volunteering with the Fire Ladies Auxilliary, Baddeck Minor Hockey Association, Bras d’or Yacht Club, Baddeck Curling Club and as part of the church choir.
Nancy was an avid curler, but also enjoyed swimming and sailing. She also enjoyed watching numerous other sports and could always be counted on to root for the underdog.
Nancy was an affirmed animal lover as any of her family or friends can attest to. She loved to spend time walking, feeding and playing with her dogs and horses over the years.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her kindness and compassion.
