Theatre Baddeck holding general auditions for 2018 summer season
Auditions include stop in Baddeck (Nov. 28), Sydney (Nov. 27)
The curtain lowered on the third season of Theatre Baddeck barely a month ago, and already the company is looking ahead to next season. Co-artistic Director Hannah Ziss says the company is holding general auditions this month in Halifax, Sydney, and Baddeck in the hopes of increasing participation of local talent. Ziss and fellow Co-artistic Director Christy Macrae-ziss are excited to see the talent available in Nova Scotia, particularly on Cape Breton Island.
“High quality, professional entertainment with a Cape Breton flavour is our mission, which means hiring local is important to us,” says Ziss. “We had the pleasure of engaging local actor Mary Austin in her first professional contract this past season and it was a great success. We want to do even more of this in 2018.”
All hired artists are engaged by the company in a professional form of contract, but Ziss and Macrae-ziss want to hear from all interested actors - even if they do not have any professional credits.
“We know there is lots of great talent on the island – we encourage anyone who is interested to give it a shot,” says Ziss.

Baddeck in 2015. The company has performed their original
