It is with heavy hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of Yvonne Marie Pierro, 65, of Wag­mat­cook, on Satur­day, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Vic­to­ria County Me­mo­rial Hos­pi­tal, Bad­deck. Born in Bad­deck, she was the daugh­ter of the late Vic­tor and Louise Pierro.

Yvonne de­voted her life to tak­ing care of her chil­dren, grand­chil­dren, hus­band and fam­ily.

She was proud of her Mi’kmaq cul­ture and was a res­i­den­tial school sur­vivor. She lived in On­tario for 30 years un­til she moved back home to Wag­mat­cook in 2006. She en­joyed sewing, read­ing, go­ing to the drive-in, and com­puter games. Yvonne was a big Stephen King fan, en­joyed read­ing his books and watch­ing his movies. She also en­joyed the Pow Wow trails un­til her health slowed her down. She had a won­der­ful per­son­al­ity and sense of hu­mour, she had a smile on her face right un­til the end. Yvonne is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Terry Bernard (Newell), Mi­randa Pierro, Stew­ard Pierro and Anika Braith­waite; grand­chil­dren, Ter­rance Charles ‘TC’ (Mad­die), Aria, Sarah (Noel), Justin (Deanne), Ay­den, Jenika, Jack­lynn and Ta­panga; great grand­chil­dren, Aleigha, Pais­lynn, Made­lyn, Emma, Akasha and Noel Jr.; broth­ers and sis­ter, Char­lie (Mali), Alena (Bobby) and Fran­cis ‘Chisholm’, and spe­cial nieces and neph­ews, Kim, Andy, Francine, Michael, Neveda, Tash, Ce­line, Taranah, Jor­don and Nel­son. She is also sur­vived by one aunt, one un­cle and many nieces, neph­ews and cousins.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Peter V. Ma­clean; daugh­ter, Jen­nifer Pierro; broth­ers, Michael and Peter Tony, and sis­ters, Rubena, Theresa, Chris­tine and Ber­nadette.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Yvonne Pierro was held on Nov. 18. Fu­neral Mass was held on Nov. 20 at Queen of the World Church with Fr. Vin­cent Travers of­fi­ci­at­ing. Salite fol­lowed in the Wag­mat­cook Cul­tural Cen­ter.
