The Victoria Standard - - Local News -

The Cape Breton Local Immigration Partnership (CBLIP) has launched two surveys: one for newcomers born outside of Canada now living in Cape Breton and another for the community at large. The CBLIP is interested in learning more about the settlement experience of newcomers and about community priorities, concerns, and attitudes towards immigration in Cape Breton.

“These surveys are going to serve as important tools to guide the CBLIP’S activities and strategies as we move forward,” says Carla Arsenault, President and CEO of the Cape Breton Partnership. “Whether you’re a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, international student, refugee or a temporary resident, we want to hear about your experiences and outlooks as they relate to immigration and newcomers in Cape Breton.”

The Local Immigration Partnership, an initiative of the Cape Breton Partnership, has wrapped up two series of sessions held across Cape Breton earlier in 2018. The first series included presenting the CBLIP and its mandate alongside other newcomer-focused programs to the Island’s municipal governments and the local business community. The CBLIP then embarked across the Island again, this time holding community engagement sessions in thirteen communities to hear from residents and employers on how to make Cape Breton more welcoming to newcomers.

The newcomer survey can be accessed online at https:// www.surveymonkey.com/r/Cblipimmigrantsurvey, and the community survey can be accessed online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/cblipcommunitysurvey. All data collected will be kept confidential and will be grouped to protect the participants’ anonymity.
