Cut it out!
Ryan Mcintyre, 35, of Truro shows off his timbersports skills during a demonstration at the Breton Forest Innovation Cooperative AGM & Celebration. Chainmail is worn to prevent cuts to the leg, although it will not prevent a break. Timbersport disciplines correspond to the different stages of felling trees. Mcintyre’s demonstration included two of the six disciplines. The first, the under-hand chop, involved cutting through a horizontally mounted log from both sides. In the second, the standing block chop, Mcintyre cut through a vertically mounted log. Mcintyre began com-peting in the multi-discipline sport in 2003 and is co-founder of the North Nova Lumberjacks Society. Learn more at novalumberjacks.com.
