Greenhouse permit bylaw coming before aldermen

- TRIBUNE STAFF

A proposal to create a fees bylaw to include a new subcategory and building fee for greenhouses in Wainfleet is subject of a public meeting tonight.

The township will consider the bylaw at its 7 p. m. council meeting. Builders and members of the public are invited to appear.

Written submissions will be accepted by the town clerk until 2 p. m.

The proposal is to create a new subcategory under the farm buildings section, which will be titled greenhouses.

Township staff have put forward a proposed permit fee of $ 1,014.04 for greenhouses up to 465 square metres; greenhouses 466 square metres and up will cost an additional $ 1.65 per square metre with a cap of $ 8,600.

The township said the objective of the new category and fee is for the building department to operate closer to cost recovery permit revenue.

For more information on building permit fees, contact chief building official Randy De Guire at 905899- 3463 ext. 272 or rdeguire@wainfleet.ca.
