Wo­man charged with as­sault fol­low­ing dis­tur­bance

A 27-year-old Cor­ner Brook wo­man charged fol­low­ing a dis­tur­bance at a city home on Thurs­day night will have a bail hear­ing on Mon­day.

Sa­man­tha Piercey ap­peared in pro­vin­cial court on Fri­day af­ter­noon charged with as­sault with a weapon or im­i­ta­tion weapon, as­sault, ut­ter­ing threats to dam­age or de­stroy prop­erty and mis­chief to prop­erty, less than $5,000.

Gary Kear­ney ap­peared as duty coun­sel for Piercey and told Judge Wayne Gor­man that Trevor Mur­phy from the Stephenville le­gal aid of­fice will rep­re­sent her at the bail hear­ing.

The Royal New­found­land Con­stab­u­lary re­ported in its me­dia re­port Fri­day morn­ing that of­fi­cers re­sponded to a dis­tur­bance at 9:48 p.m.

The com­plainant re­ported that a wo­man in­side the res­i­dence had threat­ened and as­saulted him.

In­for­ma­tion sworn be­fore the court al­leges that Piercey al­legedly used a knife in the as­sault. It also al­leges she threat­ened to de­stroy the com­plainant’s vinyl records and that she will­fully dam­aged a vinyl record insert be­long­ing to the man.
