Set for life

The Western Star - - CLOSE TO HOME -

It was a well worth it self brought birthday gift for turning 50 last Saturday, January 6th. for Paul Boland of Mount Pearl. He stopped by the Sobey’s supermarket on Old Placentia Road in Mount Pearl to purchase a few odds n’ ends and decided to buy himself a single Atlantic Lotto scratch n win Set For Life ticket for his 50th birthday. When he got home and scratched the ticket, it revealed three “Set For Life” symbols and handed it to his wife Reta thinking he had won “something.” She realized the “half-scratched” ticket was indeed a Set For Life top prize winner of $1,000 a week for life or a lump sum of $675,000, the latter of which they decided to take. The couple has two teenage daughters and their university education is “taken care of.” Paul, an account manager with Gray Bar Canada, said he will purchase a new Harley Davidson motorcycle, while Reta, a facilities and operations manager with the Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union (NLCU), said she wants to go somewhere where it’s “sunny and warm and no snow” for a family vacation this spring. They are shown here with their symbolic cheque during the presentation in Mount Pearl on Friday morning.
