12:30 AM | Police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Highway 7 when a red Toyota Echo entered the check point. While speaking with the driver, officers detected the odour of alcohol on his breath. The driver was arrested after failing the roadside screening test, and was transported to a local OPP operation centre for further testing. As a result, a 27-year-old Kitchener man was charged with ‘driving with over 80 mgs.’ He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 5 to answer to the charge.
