OCTOBER 28

The Woolwich Observer - - NEWS -

4:30 PM | A Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County 21 just west of County 7 in the Township of Centre Wellington when he observed a male driving a black Dodge travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 152 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver of the Dodge continued on County 21 and failed to negotiate a turn onto County 7. He struck a light standard, causing significant damage to his vehicle. As a result, a 20-year-old Elora man has been charged with ‘race a motor vehicle,’ ‘operate a motor vehicle without insurance’ and ‘careless driving.’ He will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on December 20. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
