Sawmill Road set to re-open

The Woolwich Observer - - NEWS -

East-west transit through Conestogo may soon be a reality again, as the Region of Waterloo looks to wrap up construction and re-open Sawmill Road this weekend.

Originally projected to be completed by month’s end, despite roadway signs suggesting work was to finish by early November, construction is being completed two or three weeks early, following scheduled paving for tomorrow (Friday).

“The road will be opened by the weekend, probably November 11, and then traffic will be able to continue to use that road and be re-opened permanently,” said regional project manager Jim Ellerman. “So we are actually about two or three weeks ahead of schedule, as we were anticipated to be completed by November 30.”

Ellerman added that there will be an intermittent construction presence over the next couple of weeks in and around Conestogo.
