1:04 AM | A 20-year-old Cambridge woman driving a grey Mazda travelling northbound on Arthur Street at the Sawmill Road roundabout was involved in a single-vehicle collision. The driver stated she fell asleep and veered off the roadway, sliding into the ditch. A passerby noticed the taillights in the ditch and stopped to assist. Police were contacted and responded to the scene, subsequently charging the woman with ‘careless driving.’ No injuries reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
1:44 PM | A 60-year-old Cambridge man driving a black Nissan van northbound on King Street in St. Jacobs came to a stop as he waited to turn left onto Printery Road when he was struck from behind by a motorcycle. The 82-year-old man was riding the black Honda motorcycle sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital. He was charged with ‘careless driving.’ 2:17 PM | Sometime between 9 and 9:45 p.m., an unknown suspect entered Scrubbles Laundry on Oriole Parkway West in Elmira and attempted to break into various pieces of equipment. The suspect is described as a white male teenager, wearing a grey winter toque, a two-tone blue hoodie and track pants, carrying a backpack. Police are asking anyone with information regarding this attempted theft to contact the Waterloo Regional Police rural detachment at 519570-9777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). 4:00 PM | Wellington County OPP responded to a serious workplace injury in Elora. Initial reports indicated that a 27-year-old male had sustained serious trauma to his right hand while operating a mill. OPP as well as Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Services attended and treated the patient. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and then airlifted to a trauma centre. The Ministry of Labour (MOL) is investigating.
