The con­tro­ver­sial ghost of amal­ga­ma­tion vis­ited Welles­ley on Devil’s Night but was quickly dis­patched by coun­cil­lors ea­ger to ex­or­cise the de­mon for­ever. Prompted by a let­ter from Cam­bridge Mayor Doug Craig, coun­cil­lors meet­ing Oct. 30 voted to drive a nail in the cas­ket of the lat­est drive for one-tier gov­ern­ment in Water­loo Re­gion. Coun­cil en­dorsed Craig’s con­dem­na­tion of the ac­tions and man­date of Cit­i­zens for Bet­ter Gov­ern­ment (CFBG).
