Hanging out in the Alley

Thornhill Post - - Food -

If you’ve been to Taichung City in Taiwan, you may be familiar with the Alley at its place of birth. Since hopping over to the GTA, the beverage-focused biz has been wooing locals with its solid menu tea offerings. At its newest location, found at 30 Gibson Dr., Unit 118, the Alley aims to differentiate itself from other Taiwanese bubble tea shops thanks to its living room–like environs and handcrafted drinks. Bevvies include the Trio milk tea (above), which features an assam black tea based milk tea sweetened gently with their housemade sugar cane syrup. The “trio” part comes from additions of pineapple jelly, rainbow jelly and tapioca. Dubbed, erm, “deerioca,” the tapioca is entirely made from scratch, with each chewy pearl created by hand. Yum.
