THE BAD

Thornhill Post - - News -

Approxiately 35,000 people in Richmond Hill were notified that during 10 days in October, their personal contact information was exposed online through the Town of Richmond Hill’s contact centre. Staff became aware of the breach when a search turned up the searcher’s name online and the address, phone number and email address were also found on the town’s database. More calls came in, with one wondering why Timmy down the street kept ringing up to ask if their refrigerator was running. Refrigerators are fast, but the town was faster: the error was resolved in a matter of days.
