Tales of hero­ism and mem­o­ries of those who were lost con­tinue to be shared across Toronto after the dev­as­tat­ing at­tack on Yonge Street be­tween Finch and Shep­pard Av­enues on April 23. Flow­ers, pic­tures and can­dles have ac­cu­mu­lated at a memo­rial at Mel Last­man Square to hon­our the 10 who were lost and 16 in­jured. The city’s re­silience have been praised, with sen­ti­ments such as “Love for All, Ha­tred for None” writ­ten across the memo­rial, and “Toronto the Good” and “Toronto Strong” ap­pear­ing in head­lines world­wide. More than $1 mil­lion has been raised for the fam­i­lies of the vic­tims through var­i­ous cam­paigns as well as the city’s #Toron­toStrong Fund (text TORONTO to 80100 to do­nate). An­other way to help is to do­nate blood to Cana­dian Blood Ser­vices ( Alek Mi­nas­sian, the 25-year-old Rich­mond Hill man al­legedly be­hind the at­tack, has been charged with mul­ti­ple counts of first-de­gree mur­der and at­tempted mur­der.
