Toronto’s new­est fash­ion week

Fash­ion in our fair city is hav­ing a bit of a mo­ment, from Meghan Markle (now the Duchess of Sus­sex) rock­ing a coat by Line The La­bel to Manolo Blah­nik choos­ing T.O. as the only North Amer­i­can stop for his Art of Shoes ex­hi­bi­tion. While fash­ion is top of mind in T.O., the city is about to get its first an­nual In­dige­nous Fash­ion Week. The event will take place at the Har­bourfront Cen­tre from May 31 to June 3. The spot­light will be on de­sign­ers such as T.O.’s Les­ley Hamp­ton (Anishin­abe) and War­ren Steven Scott (Nlaka’pa­mux), along with artists from New Brunswick, like In­grid Brooks (Mi’kmaq), Green­land’s Nuuk Couture (Inuit) and Min­nesota’s Delina White (Ojibwa). There will also be work­shops and a panel se­ries with Kent Monkman, Jesse Wente and more.

GROW­ING SUP­PORT The show aims to ad­vance and em­power In­dige­nous artists.
