$1.8 million donation paves way for Thornhill home for women
After receiving a donation of $1.8 million from the Miriam and Larry Robbins Foundation, the Reena Foundation has announced the founding of a new group home for women. The organization has provided community services and housing for individuals with developmental disabilities for 45 years. According to Reena Foundation executive director Sheila Lampert, women with developmental disabilities are 65 per cent more likely to experience abuse. Reena currently provides specialized residential support in over 30 group homes and over 131 supported independent living apartments. Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner, who helps community organizations through his Mitch Marner Fund, attended the cheque presentation.
