( YRP) has York Regional Police begun searching for a 72-year-old man who is believed to have been out of contact with his family for over 10 years. The man resided in the City of Toronto until 2003, and his last known location is Richmond Hill circa 2008. His family, who lives in Iran, has become concerned about the man’s whereabouts and reported his disappearance in June of 2018. The YRP is asking for public assistance with this matter.
A 27-year-old female has been charged by YRP with witchcraft and fraud. In November of 2017, investigators learned that a 67year-old male victim had met a self-proclaimed psychic, who convinced him to sell his house and car and to transfer the funds into her bank account, an amount estimated at around $600,000. Pretending to practise witchcraft is against the Criminal Code, dealing specifically with individuals who falsely portray themselves as having supernatural abilities. Investigators with YRP are seeking public assistance in identifying two male suspects following an altercation that occurred at a tire shop on Hanlan Road. Police believe that the two suspects entered the shop, assaulted one of the employees, who fled from the shop, and assaulted a second victim. As well, a tire was thrown at his upper body. When police arrived, the second victim was suffering from serious injuries that required emergency care.
