$52K boost for Sal­ford cen­tre reno

The Canada 150 Com­mu­nity in­fra­struc­ture Pro­gram will pump $52,000 into the Sal­ford Com­mu­nity Cen­tre ren­o­va­tion, South-West Ox­ford Town­ship an­nounced Satur­day.

The es­ti­mated $157,000 project will make the cen­tre’s wash­rooms more ac­ces­si­ble, cut wa­ter and elec­tric­ity use, ren­o­vate the kitchen to ac­com­mo­date the ag­ing com­mu­nity and re­plac­ing older win­dows and doors.

The grant, cov­er­ing one-third of the project, along with a $10,000 grant re­ceived this month from a Farm Credit Canada fund and $25,000 raised in the com­mu­nity, brings the to­tal raised to about $87,000, said town­ship chief ad­min­is­tra­tor mary Ellen greb.

The bal­ance will come from town­ship re­serves.
