Hur­ri­canes blow past lak­ers, aces

the till­son­burg ‘canes fi­nally made their home de­but on their reg­u­lar rink - the Kins­men Me­mo­rial arena - at the till­son­burg com­mu­nity cen­tre Friday, Oct. 6th with an im­pres­sive 11-2 win over the lon­don lak­ers.

this very ex­cit­ing game was led by Maxsim Korobeinikov (71) from rus­sia, with a three-goal night and one as­sist. He was com­pli­mented by three more four-point play­ers: Kyran Karol (7) from red deer, ab, grif­fin sin­den (27) and gray sin­den (20), both from till­son­burg! Mul­ti­ple points were also earned by noah demelo (24) from lon­don, dal­las routh (97) from al­berta, and con­nor Madill (22) from Mt. bry­dges. rookie sen­sa­tion goalie noah ac­ciac­ca­ferri (1), from pick­er­ing, kept the boys in­spired by not al­low­ing any goals un­til late in the third pe­riod.

coaches Ja­son dopaco and Mark Jones were both very pleased with Friday’s results, and are now fo­cus­ing on re­peat­ing their suc­cess on all fu­ture games. their game sched­ule can be seen at www.till­son­burgjra­hock­ey­ as well as their cal­en­dar of events.

the team has al­ready been ac­tive in the com­mu­nity by vol­un­teer­ing their help at the Food bank, play­ing road hockey with the kids at the an­nan­dale pub­lic school, and serv­ing ta­bles at bos­ton pizza.

Founder ian el­lis is or­ga­niz­ing the first till­son­burg Hur­ri­canes all you can eat Fish Fry, which will be held at the till­son­burg com­mu­nity cen­tre (45 Hardy ave, till­son­burg) on Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. tick­ets can be pur­chased by call­ing 519-573-7223, or by vis­it­ing any one of our very sup­port­ive mer­chants:

till­son­burg travel, bos­ton pizza, sin­den’s paint and Wall­pa­per and chrissy’s cor­ner store. the event will be catered by chrissy’s cater­ing.

For the sec­ond time this thanks­giv­ing week­end, the ‘canes played a great hockey game to earn an­other vic­tory, with a fi­nal score of 8-4. shots on goal were 44-31 in fa­vor of the ‘canes.

the scor­ing be­gan at 11:08 of the first pe­riod with a goal by grif­fin sin­den (27) of till­son­burg, who added an­other goal later. cap­tain Kyran Karol (7) of red deer, also had a fab­u­lous game with two goals and three as­sists. dal­las routh (97) of al­berta, had one goal and two as­sists. liam Madill (8) from Mt. bry­dges had one goal and one as­sist, and noah demelo (24) of lon­don, also had one goal and one as­sist. as­sists were also earned by dal­ton brown (10) of West rich­land, Wa, and Keith Zobel (19) of an­chor­age, alaska.
