Mclaren confirms 814-hP senna gTr

Tillsonburg News - - DRIVING - JAMes Gent

mclaren has released its first teaser sketch of the brand new senna gTr and confirms that dynamic testing of the prototype will begin this month.

The track-spec gTr senna, named in honour of the three-time Formula one world Champion ayrton senna, will use the same four-litre twin-turbo v8 as the road-going hypercar.

Torque remains unchanged at 590 pound-feet, but power has been given a kick up to 814 horsepower, some 25 hp more than the road car.

another new addition is the race-bred suspension, developed using intel gleaned from mclaren’s gT3 racing program. These new double wishbones are likely to be connected to centrelocking wheels clad with bespoke Pirelli slicks.

Neither performance figures nor the vehicle weight have been announced, but expect the gTr to be lighter than the already welterweight, 1,198-kilogram senna road car.

unsurprisingly, the senna gTr will be super-exclusive, with just 75 units confirmed, and yes, each of them have already been sold for an eye-watering $1.9 million.
