STS Pain Pharmacy
STS Pain Pharmacy is not only a pharmacy, but a centre where people in addiction recovery and/or facing homelessness can find services to help them. Initiatives include creating a program where clients receive free rides to appointments (doctor, probation officer and hospital) and providing people without ID, who are enrolled in drug recovery programs, the opportunity to cash their government cheques without paying a fee. STS pharmacists are also engaged in the opiate drug crisis and have received a federal grant in conjunction with the University of Victoria to develop a device able to detect Fentanyl in illicit drugs. Where people see an epidemic, STS Pain Pharmacy sees an opportunity to help others and advance science.
